Care Instructions
MENINA frames are made from premium acetate and stainless steel, fitted with CR-39 or nylon lenses depending on the style. Acetate is a living material. It softens with body heat, holds the shape it is fitted to, and rewards consistent care over time. A MENINA frame is made to last, with periodic attention.
Lenses
MENINA lenses provide UV400 protection, blocking at least 99.9% of UVA and UVB radiation. Certain styles carry blue light filtering lenses to reduce exposure to high-energy visible light. Lens filter category varies by model and lens type. Refer to the product page for the category of a specific frame.
- Category 0: Minimal protection. Cosmetic or indoor use.
- Category 1: Light protection for overcast conditions.
- Category 2: Moderate protection for everyday outdoor use.
- Category 3: High protection for bright sunlight and daytime driving.
- Category 4: Very high protection for extreme glare. Not suitable for driving.
Cleaning
Use the included microfiber cloth to clean the lens. For heavier residue, rinse the frame under cool water with a small amount of unscented dish soap, then dry with the cloth. Avoid paper towels, shirt fabric, and tissue, which scratch the lens over time. Do not use alcohol, ammonia, or eyeglass sprays containing solvents, which strip the finish on the acetate.
Heat
Acetate warps above 60°C. Keep the frame out of direct sun for extended periods, away from car dashboards in summer, and away from radiators and stovetops. Heat is the most common cause of fit loss.
Storage
When not worn, the frame returns to its case. Place the frame in lens-up, with the temples folded left over right. Storing the frame face-down on a hard surface scratches the lens.
Adjustment
The frame is not designed to be adjusted. The hinges and temples are set to a fixed fit and should not be bent or reshaped by hand or by an optician, as doing so may damage the acetate. A well-fitted frame sits balanced on the face without pressure at the nose or behind the ear.
Travel
Carry the frame in its case. The case is built to absorb impact at the points where the frame is most fragile, the bridge and the hinges. A frame loose in a bag will catch on keys, zippers, and other hard objects.
Saltwater and Pool Water
Rinse the frame with fresh water after contact with saltwater or chlorinated pool water. Salt and chlorine corrode the steel temple and can cloud the lens over time.
Safety
Frames and their components may contain small parts that pose a choking hazard. Keep them out of reach of children. Edges may be sharp. Handle with care.
Some individuals may experience an allergic reaction or skin irritation from product materials, sensitivity, or improper storage. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and seek medical advice.
Warranty and Repair
Each frame carries a one year warranty covering manufacturing defects. The warranty excludes damage from misuse, neglect, or improper care. MENINA is not responsible for personal injury, property damage, or loss resulting from improper or negligent use.
For frames damaged within 12 months of receipt, refer to the warranty terms on the Returns page. For frames outside warranty, a paid repair service is available. Email contact@shopmenina.com with the order number and a photograph of the damage.
